After teasing their collaboration last week, Louis Vuitton and the NBA formalized a multi-year partnership. A brand new collection of clothing and accessories in the image of both brands will be launched, directed by Virgil Abloh.
To launch this partnership, Louis Vuitton and the NBA have created a trunk for the Larry O’Brien Trophy, which is awarded each year to the play-off winners. Michael Burke, president and CEO of Louis Vuitton, said :
This collaboration promises exceptional moments that will forge historic memories
“As a long-standing partner of the world’s most prestigious trophies, Louis Vuitton is proud to continue this tradition by associating itself today with such an emblematic event. Victory also travels with Louis Vuitton,” he added.
It took 6 craftsmen and more than 100 hours of work to make this trunk, in the historic Louis Vuitton workshops located in Asnières-sur-Seine. The trunk is covered with the monogram of the Parisian house, enhanced with brass rivets. It is decorated with a large “V” for Victory, in the NBA colors of white, red and blue.
Mark Tatum, NBA Chief Operating Officer, said, “This is a unique opportunity to bring the ultimate reward of our championship to our fans around the world.” Of course, this partnership is being unveiled in preparation for the first-ever NBA regular season game in France.
