Nike Alpha Project … Do you remember? For those who respond noyou should know that 1997/1998 Nike launched a program of research and development especially in the search for lightness on theirnew models but whith keeping a certain rigidity and strength.
Ah! it comes back to you?? Nike The Glove, Zoom GP, Flightposite KG, Shox BB4, Zoom Citizen, P Phaze , Presto, Kukini, Griffey Max… were part of this program. It was so far from the usual standards!
Made for performance many model from Basketball range of the Alpha Project met some famous NBA stars feet’s like Gary Payton, Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett.
The Nike HyperFlight is born in 2001 according to these principles, make a pair with an original design and lightweight without losing its effectiveness. It was found on Jason Williams’ feet, point guard for the Sacramento Kings at the time, the color purple was sold very well and is the most known colorway. It was also seen on LeBron James, Damon Stoudemire, Derek Fisher … A classic.
The pair seemed to be molded to your feet with a lateral reinforcement for granted a little more rigidity. A kind of soft and thick patent covered the pair, allowing a wide variety of color at the time (probably the first Nike Basketball model available with so many colorways). And colorways was important in order to match with NBA uniforms which became increasingly popular (but also more spectacular).
The material also allowed some impressions, and thus we come to the 2013 reissue as Hero Pack. The design has not changed and different prints available are all crazy.
This Red Reef remain one of the more sober pair pack..
