The capital club will be wearing a historic jersey next season with the comeback of the PSG Hechter jersey.
The rumour is confirmed, the American equipment manufacturer will give life to the famous tunic of the Parisian club. After unveiling a retro jersey inspired by the 1989-90 season, it is the turn of the famous Hechter jersey to make its comeback. Who doesn’t remember the famous RTL sponsor printed in XXL size on a navy blue background contrasted by a wide red stripe bordered with white? And if this image remains anchored among the oldest among us it is because this jersey lasted from 1973 until the end of the 80s, with slight modifications but preserving the essence of the design of this combination of colors become cult:
“On the street, I saw a Ford Mustang with its central strip on the hood that extends to the roof and I transposed that (…) I started drawing and I found this central strip on the jersey when, at the time, the strips were horizontal. Only Ajax Amsterdam had a central band; some people thought I had been inspired by it, which was not the case. (…) I had imagined this jersey by drawing it as if it were a show. It was a total look, with red shorts and the balance on the blue jersey between red and white stripes. I think it is legitimate for each president to make his or her mark. But touching the jersey, which is part of the history of a club… It’s like the near disappearance of the Saint-Germain mention or renaming the Just Fontaine salon. The Qataris have their logic, but it’s a strategic mistake (…) To be a great club, you have to respect the traditions
Daniel Hechter, former president of the PSG and designer of this jersey
It seems that the club’s leaders have listened to these wise words, allowing the Hechter PSG jersey to make its big comeback for the 50th anniversary of the capital club. The Jersey should be launched this summer a few weeks before the pre-season training course at Paris Saint-Germain. We will keep you informed when it becomes available.
