The news has just been released: luxury will once again rub shoulders with streetwear with this MCM x Bape capsule.
We all remember the announcement a little over 3 years ago of the collaboration between Supreme and Louis Vuitton. A real tsunami: the capsule had been told literally everywhere, accompanied by retail (and resell) prices that were just as extravagant. Big sold out, and everything suggests that this MCM x Bape collaboration will suffer the same fate. Indeed, even if MCM is running low compared to the other millenials’ luxury brand with Gucci/Dior/Balenciaga as flagships, the Belgian company has a real heritage and success in New York and its suburbs where the lookbook was shot, as well as the simian brand. The association of these two entities is therefore coherent and creates new visuals in the brown / orange and green tones specific to the two brands. An original Camo with the signature of the luxury house, Bape Head using the triangle monogram or the Shark motif (trading the WGM for MCM) applied to small and large leather goods: this MCM x Bape collaboration sees things big and intends to win back its Big Apple buyers as well as seduce an ever more novelty-hungry generation Z.
